Knowledge Feast

"I beg your mercy, Great Arachnid. Please, I am nothing but a simple, humble, tasteless bug." The Grasshopper said.
"No. I'm hungry." The Spider said, preparing his silk.
"But... but sir!" The Grasshopper said "please!" Then a stroke of what he considered genius hit him. "I'll give you something! In exchange for my life. Something more valuable then all your wildest dreams combined."
The Spider grunted. "Praying Mantis?" he said.
"No!" said the Grasshopper. He leaned forward confidingly, as far as his sticky silk manacles would allow. "Knowledge."
The Spider stared at him blankly, his eight eyes showing nothing. The eyes truly are the windows to one's soul, thought the Grasshopper.
"I can teach you of the seasons! of the alignments of the cosmos! Of the secrets of men, and the tales of mammalian yore! I can show you the finer points of alchemy! Technology! I can read one of your eight palms and reveal your immanent future!" The Grasshopper's voice was growing desperate. "Let me open a brilliant new world to you" he said.
The Spider sat, unmoving. "Knowledge?" he said slowly.
     "Exactly" the Grasshopper said.
"No" said the Spider. "I'm hungry."
